It's been a long time coming but the ELD Final Rule has officially been released by the FMCSA. In a press release dated December 10, 2015, the FMCSA announced that the new ELD mandate will result in savings of over $1 billion dollars in paperwork and is projected to save 26 lives and prevent 562 injuries on an annual basis.

It also stated that an estimated three million drivers nationwide will be affected by this new legislation.

A copy of the full release from the FMCSA is available online, which also details the specific requirements of the ruling.

ELD solutions are available now

Verizon Connect has been working closely with trucking firms, owner operators and truck manufacturers including Mack, Freightliner, Hino and Volvo Trucks to design and develop compliance solutions that make the driver's job easier and improve overall truck fleet management.

In response to the new ELD mandate issued by the FMCSA today, Verizon Connect announced ELD Made Simple, a convenient way for fleets to more easily meet requirements for new mandatory electronic driver logs (e-logs).
