Bad driving is bad for business

We’ve all been witness to a reckless driver in our time: slamming on brakes, swerving between lanes, tailgating and any number of other motor-based sins. What’s most shocking, however, is the number of times these reckless drivers are behind the wheel of a company vehicle -- with a poor unsuspecting business owner’s company name, logo and telephone number emblazoned on the back and sides.

It is vital that your drivers know what is expected of them when out on the road, because bad driving habits really are bad for business, in more ways than you might think… 

It can harm your reputation

Having a fleet of vehicles out on the road every day with your company name on them is great – they essentially act as travelling billboards. However, you don’t want your travelling billboard hurtling through a school zone at 50mph or slamming on its brakes just after cutting in front of another vehicle. 

People take note of hazardous driving and may even alert the authorities and – particularly if your drivers are taking similar routes each day – the last thing you want is a reputation for careless driving.

Bad driving habits can cause physical damage to your fleet. For example, turning at high speeds is likely to leave its mark on your tyres, while drivers who ride the brake while tailgating will likely  cost you more in maintenance fees in the long-run.
